Devarayanadurga

An amazing camping trip with friends to Devarayanadurga was one of the highlights of my one week break :)

All the credit goes to my friends for choosing the place and booking the same.

We started early morning around 6.30am on a Monday morning. Devarayanadurga is 90km from Bangalore. The drive was good and the view, as we approached Devarayanadurga was lovely with mountains surrounding us.

We had booked 'Vishaal Farm' in Devarayanadurga through linger properties website. We reached the place around 9am. The place was beautiful with tents and stone benches and greenary and hills in the background. We had coffee/badam milk before a heavy breakfast of hot pooris and sabji. As we were the only ones staying that day, we got to choose the tents. Kids were super excited and they chose the big tent where all 4 of them would stay :)

After another round of coffee, we headed out for a walk. The weather was perfect! We walked across fields and spent sometime on the boulders and hillocks, eating freshly plucked groundnuts.

By the time we got back fresh lemon juice was awaiting us :) And then we had hot chapathis, curry, rice, rasam, sambhar for lunch. The food was simple and tasty!

Relaxing

After relaxing for a while, we drove to one of Devarayanadurga's main temples, Yoga Narasimha temple, which was at the top of a hill. The views were scenic throughout with mist covered mountains.

It was dark by the time we got back to the camp site. We had coffee with pakodas and settled down on the benches. The temperature had come down and had gotten chilly. After sometime we had a nice bon fire. It was a clear sky for a while and we were able to gaze at the star lit sky. We had a quick dinner and were ready to get ready for bed. The fearless four kids had decided to sleep on their own in their tent and so they were too excited. The restrooms were located few meters away from the tents and as it was a bear territory, we had to ensure no food items were near our tents.

We woke up early the next day and started our trek to the Thimmappanaswamy temple which was located on top of a hill. It was a lovely trek to the top. We left at 6.40am and got back to the campsite at 10.40am. The trek was roughly around 6km. The kids did great climbing up and down!

As we climbed up the last stretch, it was covered with fog and we could barely see anything.

Gradually the sky cleared up and we got to see the fantastic view of the lakes/fields/hills spread all over!

We had packed snacks to eat at the top, so we got to energize ourselves before we started our descent. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the trek!

Fresh and pure

We were so thankful to have fresh lemon juice as soon as we got back from the trek followed by the softest thatte idlis.

After a nice cup of coffee we went to explore few places nearby.

We drove towards Madhugiri and Siddarabetta.

We got back to the campsite and had lunch.

We packed up and left the place around 3.30pm.
