Goodness

We meet many people, we listen to many people - sometimes on a daily basis, sometimes once in a while. And certain words or dialogues uttered by people or certain actions stay in our mind. Something one of my aunts said last week re-triggered a series of thoughts in me and while I was pondering about it, I came across a person at work whose energy/passion about something felt so pure and infectious. I am saying re-triggered because I have been amazed by my own mom's resilience and discipline at the way she has been living her life.

All this made me realize how magical everything is if and only if we are able to see the magic in everything and everyone.

Let me try to explain, there is so much goodness in people and if we are willing to see that goodness, it can  touch us in amazing ways. I am sure there is something magical in every human being. Key is to make an effort to see it.  I am saying that we have to make an effort because we are always so busy in our own world and caught up in our own drama that we fail to see it otherwise.

When we notice the goodness or magic, it lifts our mood as well. I have always felt that we get to learn something or the other from everyone on a daily basis. We have often heard the saying that God could not be present physically everywhere and hence he created mothers. While this is definitely true, I would like to add on and say that God could not be there everywhere and hence he made us see him through the goodness in everyone.

Let us honestly try to see the goodness in every single person and witness how it affects our lives. Let me warn you, goodness can come in various forms and can be very subtle as well. It can be just a single word, a sentence, a discussion, an action, a look, the excitement one has, the energy, the way someone carries themselves....

Same

I was choosing my clothes for work one of the days last week, and like most times, I kept keeping nicer clothes away for another special day.

The way my mind was differentiating between clothes stayed with me and reminded me of a proverb or dialogue from a Kannada movie that my friend had shared with me when I was in college. It means something similar to the following -

Our whole life is divided into 3 phases,

first phase, where we feel I am great and the world/everyone else is bad

second phase, I am bad and the world/everyone else is great

third phase, I am great and the world/everyone is great

😇

We all know that the third phase is the ideal phase - there is no differentiation, no hierarchy - we treat ourselves, our loved ones and strangers the same!

We treat all emotions the same way.

We treat happiness and sadness alike.

There is no winning and losing.

The list can go on and on. But this differentiation is so innate in our nature. It starts from the smallest of small things like wearing nice clothes on special days and spreads across various things in our lives. I hope we start differentiating lesser and lesser.

Here's to I am great and the world is great phase for all of us ðŸ˜Š

Trying to treat everyday, everything, every mood, every situation, everyone, everything alike
