Chennai

An amazing trip,  an awesome time,  a peaceful vacation,  a beautiful journey with a gorgeous person makes a perfect holiday :)

R and I had decided few years ago that we would start traveling with each other once our children were slightly older.

It so happened that R had to travel to Chennai for work. So we decided to meet up in Chennai.

I flew in to Chennai on a Friday evening,  I was traveling alone after a long time, which was exciting. And I was so looking forward to our trip!!

I reached the hotel and we started chatting nonstop and continued over dinner.

We settled down in our pjs in the room with a bottle of beer and were up all night talking!!

We woke up around 7.30 the next morning and after freshening up,  headed down for a yummy buffet breakfast.

We had planned to visit Mahabhalipuram in the morning. So we left the hotel around 9 in a car we had booked. The driver was from Chennai and so he knew all the local places.

The driver took us to a desolated beach that was so beautiful and pristine clean. We spent about one hour here,  walking, chatting, taking in the peaceful view and jumping for pictures :D

We continued the drive to Mahabhalipuram on the nice roads.

Mahabhalipuram is a beautiful quaint little town. I had visited the place ten years ago. We walked around the town exploring the temples and monuments, shopping for the small stone sculpture stuff. Arjuna's penance,  Krishna mantapa,  Krishna's butterball were a few places we saw.

We did a lot of street shopping,  colorful and beautiful, we ended the shopping with getting our names written on rice :)

We wanted to eat authentic Tamilnadu food,  so we had thalis at Adyar Anand bhavan.

We started  our drive back to Chennai,  when our driver suggested a place called "Dakshina Chitra", which was on the way. It was an amazing experience as we got a glimpse of all the 4 states of south India. We got to shop for jewelry and other stuff also here.

We reached the hotel around 5.30pm. We had masala tea and changed and went swimming in the gorgeous pool. It was one of the most pleasant times we had. We swam for more than a hour with the lights on and music in the background.

After freshening up,  we went to the open restaurant for dinner. It was a perfect night!  Sipping wine,  listening to live music and munching on yummy food!!  R and I had the best night of our lives :) We got to listen to our favorite songs all along.

We sat there till they closed and then we hit the bed.

We got up at leisure and  had coffee watching the sunrise from the room.

We got ready and went down to have breakfast. Seemed like we spent at least two hours eating the buffet breakfast!!  We must have eaten every single item on the buffet spread, with me covering all the international food,  and R belting on the Indian food!!

We finally forced ourselves to stand up and decided to go to the huge mall that was near the hotel. We walked to the mall and did our girly shopping which was so much fun. Had yummy coffee and rushed back to the hotel just in time for our appointment at the spa!!

The spa was real bliss!  Enjoyed the whole experience and was like a perfect icing to end the trip.

It was Sunday evening and time for me to leave Chennai. We ordered room service and had a quick dinner before I left.

Honestly there are no words to describe how good and perfect this trip was to both of us. So I shall end here by saying cheers to us :p and to the beginning of our solo trips together every year :)
