Chinnaga Betta

Decided on a Friday night to do a short trek on Saturday to Chinnaga Betta near Tumkur. We left at 7.30 and reached the base of the hill by 10am with a pitstop for breakfast. We started the trek around 10am. There are many temples surrounding the peak, Hanuman temple being the first and at the beginning of the road followed by Ranganatha temple.

The climb was steep right from the start and after a while we got a flat stretch of rocks. And then again it became steep. We enjoyed the trek while listening to the guide who explained the different types of trees we were passing and he narrated a lot of stories about leopards and other wild animals that visit the mountain often. Once we reached the top, we had to climb a huge boulder to get a 360 view. I did not climb this and settled down for another smaller view :)

Below pictures give a glimpse of the terrain.

Overall a very good short trek with good company. We climbed down and were back to the base by 1.30pm. We had lunch at Namaste Bengaluru and reached Bangalore by 5pm.
